Paramhansa Yogananda – sharing his teachings through community and groups
Nestled in the hills of Umbria, Italy, is the European Ananda Yoga Centre, a peaceful guest retreat centre and community that lives and shares the teachings of Paramhansa Yogananda. I lived here for many years and continue to be an active member of the Ananda community here in England, holding regular meditation meetups and a yearly weekend retreat (with Leon Deith, Yogaananda, Reigate). Ananda Italy hold many courses and it is a truly joyful place to visit and enter into a community spirit whilst practicing yoga and meditation. There is no part of life that meditation cannot improve and learning to meditate brings us in deeper contact with ourselves and with the Divine.
Regular Ananda Meditation Groups – satsang and community. Held at Nalini’s home, or at Yoga Ananda, Reigate. Get in touch if you would like to join us.
Leon Deith and I are holding longer meditation and satsang mornings this year at Leon’s beautiful yoga centre, Yoga Ananda in Reigate. With longer periods of meditation, chanting and readings, these mornings are a great opportunity to come together, immerse in the blessings of group meditation, and to have satsang afterwards – inspirational and uplifting. (Bring a dish to share). By donation. Dates are:
Sunday 12th April 10am – 1pm – special Easter satsang
Sunday 14th June 10am – 1pm
Sunday 27th September 10am – 1pm
Sunday 13th September – special Christmas meditation – this will be a longer session – details nearer the time.
Above all, Yogananda is probably best known as the author of the spiritual classic ‘Autobiography of a Yogi’, a fascinating and deeply inspiring account of his life and the deeper aspects of yoga. A worthy read for anyone, and a delve into the true meaning of yoga for any student of yoga or meditation. Written with great wit and humour, it is a treasure that grows richer with each reading.
If you are interested in the path of Kriya Yoga or would like to learn to meditate, please get in touch for more details. She is available to teach meditation in West Sussex, share the teachings, and give an insight into living in the Ananda spiritual community.
